MEET CATHY

Cathy Dean is Founder and CEO of Studio Dean. She is obsessed with the way that calm and considered homes can change people’s everyday lives. Her biggest thrill is delighting her clients with stunning, purposeful designs that they would never have dreamed up by themselves.

Since becoming fascinated with buildings and architecture as a child, Cathy has been honing her skill, broadening her experience and fuelling her creativity. She has planned, renovated, designed and styled a wide range of residential homes, all with one goal - to make inspirational interior renovation work with everyday life. In 2016 she founded Studio Dean to design beautiful, purposeful homes across the North East of the UK and shake up the Newcastle Interior Design scene.

Cathy and her team of like-minded, local designers believe that if a space looks incredible but doesn’t make life easier, then it doesn’t work. This is why liveability and quiet luxury is at the core of everything Studio Dean creates.

DESIGN PROCESS

Interior designers should be your first call, before architects and builders.

All Studio Dean interior design projects start at Phase 1, and we will stay with you as far as you need us.

We get to know you and your lifestyle and pinpoint what does and doesn’t work for you in your home. We respectfully reimagine a new layout that maximises the space and makes your life easier.
We find your core style with an in-depth, in-person chat. We use this inspiration to redesign your home through your eyes, with our added expertise. The end result will make you feel more at home than ever before.
It is essential all of the nuance of the design is fully realised. We bring our ideas to life and make sure they work with technical drawings. We create detailed briefing packs for all manufacturers and trades to finalise quotes and finance.
We remove the stress of managing suppliers, deliveries, returns and delays. We order everything, manage manufacture of bespoke items and offer a storage service to ensure we have all items in plenty of time.
We run a detailed project briefing with the project manager to ensure everyone involved knows what they need to do, when and why. We schedule regular revisits to assist with on site queries and offer design consultation throughout the build.
Your carefully curated items are delivered to site. We style them and ensure everything is completely perfect, ready to welcome you home to enjoy your new space.

Moving into a 5 bedroom Victorian shell where every room was painted magnolia, we renovated 4 marble fireplaces and came to an abrupt standstill; overwhelmed by the number of rooms to decorate and a realisation that none of our tired old furniture really suited the house.

Luckily Cathy and her team came to the rescue. They guided us through the design process, we began with the lounge, hallway and main bedroom, followed by the snug and 2 teenage boy's rooms.

Studio Dean’s ideas push you out of your comfort zone, at times you have to go with it and trust their experience; who would ever paint their woodwork any other colour than white? But the end result is outstanding!
Their attention to detail includes aesthetics such as flooring, wall colours, layering of textures and accessories but also and as importantly they carefully consider how you utilise and move through each space.

Spatial planning with Studio Dean has been a total game changer. We are a family of four living in a small house, with very little storage, and with a layout that just didn't maximise the limited space.
Studio Dean took a holistic view of the house and created a new layout that vastly improved the flow and functionality of the space that we had. In areas we had wanted to change, but just couldn't see a way to make it work, they found really clever solutions. With Studio Dean on our side we had the confidence to make those changes a reality.
I can't recommend Spatial Planning enough. Without this key step, I might have had a beautifully redecorated house, but all the original frustrations of the home would still have been there. I just wish I had found them sooner!
